Embarking on an Online Teaching Journey: A Guide for Aspiring Tutors
Have you ever dreamt of teaching online or working overseas but felt unsure about how to start? You're not alone.
Many of us are navigating this path, and I’m here to say: we can take this leap together. As someone who is currently on this journey, I want to empower you to believe in your potential, share my experiences, and provide actionable steps to help you take that crucial first step.
A Personal Story of Resilience and Transformation
My journey into online teaching hasn't been straightforward. In 2022, I faced challenges that seemed insurmountable: mental illness, depression, dissatisfaction at work, and the lingering effects of COVID-19. I hated my job, felt trapped, and desperately needed a change. After taking a career break to recover and prioritize my health, I discovered the world of online teaching.
Though I lacked teaching experience, I leveraged my TEFL certification, previous experience in training and leadership, and my determination to succeed. Today, I’m transitioning into self-employment as an Online English Tutor. It’s a new chapter for me, and while I’m still learning and growing, I’m excited to help others start their own journey.
